The 1st Battalion, 23rd Regiment of Foot served continously in Spain and Portugal (and into France) from 1810 through the end of the Peninsular War. After the return of Napoleon, the 23rd Regiment sailed for the continent once more. The following is a brief chronology of the 1st Battalion during those years (taken from the Regimental History)
